These are a handy way to stop the velcro on your elbow pads and wrist guards coming undone. They also stop other players getting scratched by velcro and they display team colours 🙂

This pattern requires a 2.5 mm hook and 4 ply wool.

Bat elbow pad cover

Chain 81, then sc along the chain to form the first row (which will have 80 stitches). I’ve designed these elbow pads to fit me so it is probably a good idea to wrap this first row around the widest part of your elbow pads (while you are wearing them) to see if it is the right size for you. You can make the row longer or shorter to fit you without affecting the tapestry.

Sc for 20 plain rows.

Then crochet the pattern, starting from the tail.

Then crochet another 20 plain rows.

Fasten off and weave in ends. Sew together to form a cylinder.

Spider elbow pad cover

Then crochet another 15 plain rows.

Fasten off and weave in ends. Sew together to form a cylinder.

Star wrist guard cover

Chain 61, then sc along the chain to form the first row (which will have 60 stitches). I’ve designed these elbow pads to fit me so it is probably a good idea to wrap this first row around the widest part of your wrist guards (while you are wearing them) to see if it is the right size for you. You can make the row longer or shorter to fit you without affecting the tapestry.

Sc for 45 rows (or whatever you need to fit your wrist guards). Throw in a few of the stars as you go.

Fasten off and weave in ends. Sew together to form a cylinder.

Now for the thumb, mark a stitch and sc 16 from there. Then ch 10 and join it to the marked stitch (26 stitches)

Now sc around for five rounds.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finally, we’ll make the fingers. Join the wool and sc around the hole for the fingers (54 stitches). You will make 10 rounds in total. Fasten off and weave in ends.
