I designed this bag as an experiment in filet crochet in the round. It’s very big but I don’t think you’d want to put anything too heavy in it because it’s stretchy. It’s good for carrying bulky but light items. It is the kind of massive bag that I would need when wool shopping. My dad suggested that it would be good for fruit like bananas because it’s soft and wouldn’t bruise them.
If you wanted to make it smaller you could just cut out of some rounds 13 – 32. Also, you should make the strap a length that is comfortable for you.
If you want it to be less stretchy you could try making it out of cotton.
The bag is about 93 cm long including the strap. It is made with a 3.5 mm hook and 8 ply wool.

Bag
Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6 stitches)
Round 2: increase in every stitch (12 stitches)
Round 3: To start the round chain 4 then dc. Then repeat (chain 2, dc) until the end of the round. Chain 2 and slip stitch into the third chain of the starting 4 chain to complete the round (12 boxes)
Round 4: To start the round chain 4 then dc in the top of the next dc then chain 2 and dc into the same dc. Then (chain 2, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the same dc) until the end of the round. Chain two and slip stitch into the third chain of the starting 4 chain to complete the round (24 boxes)
Round 5: To start the round chain 4 then dc in the top of the next dc then chain 2 and dc into the same dc. Then (chain 2, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the same dc) until the end of the round. Chain two and slip stitch into the third chain of the starting 4 chain to complete the round (48 boxes)
Rounds 6 – 9: To start the round chain 4, dc in the next dc. Then (chain 2, dc in the next dc) until the end of the round. Chain 2 and slip stitch in the third chain of the starting 4 chain to end the round (48 boxes)
Round 10: To start the round chain 4, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the same dc. Then (chain 2, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the same dc) until the end of the round. Then chain 2 and slip stitch into the third chain of the starting 4 chain to finish the round (72 boxes)
Round 11: To start the round chain 4, dc in the next dc. Then (chain 2, dc in the next dc) until the end of the round. Chain 2 and slip stitch in the third chain of the starting 4 chain to end the round (72 boxes)
Round 12: To start the round chain 4, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the same dc. Then (chain 2, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the next dc, chain 2, dc in the same dc) until the end of the round. Round 40: 2 hc in each box (36 stitches)
Fasten off
Shoulder strap
Chain 6 and slip stitch to form a ring. Sc around until the shoulder strap is 90 cm long.
Assembly
Thread the shoulder strap in and out of the boxes at the top of the bag. Then sew the ends of the strap together.
